Multi-agency Effort to Address Forest Fuels and Resilience
As Tahoe’s dense, unhealthy forests grow more dangerous with the changing climate, more action is necessary. The multi-agency Lake Tahoe Forest Action Plan calls for basin partners to work at an even larger scale to make our forests more resilient. We need to go further into the forest to improve our odds against fires the size of the Caldor and Dixie fires. The flagship project, the Lake Tahoe West Restoration Partnership, is a 59,000-acre forest resilience project planned for the West Shore. The SLT Government Affairs Manager is continuing to provide public comment on forest fuels reduction and the importance of a healthy forest so that the construction industry is able to service the community when impacted by natural disaster threats. .

Candidates Announcing for Election
EL DORADO COUNTY
Tamara Wallace, current City of South Lake Tahoe Mayor, announced this summer she would be running for the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors District Seat 5 which is currently held by Sue Novasel and is up for election in 2022.
Kenny Curtzweiler announced his candidacy for the Supervisor seat on September 30th. This is the first tme Wallace has run for the position, and the third attempt by Curtzwiler to run. He was previously unsuccessful in his bid for election. In 2014, Novasel defeated Curtzwiler with approximately 60% of the vote, and then again won in 2018 with closer to 51% of the vote.
