Letter from the Executive Director

Letter from the Executive Director

On September 15th, I participated in the first meeting for the Envision Tahoe Initiative, a nine-month Basin Wide Steering Committee organized by the Tahoe Prosperity Center and underwritten by the U.S. Economic Development Administration to facilitate an economy recovery and resiliency strategy for the Tahoe Basin emphasizing economic diversification. The Basin Wide Steering Committee was strategically selected with 36 members representing leadership in business, government, community, environmental, education, and residents from all communities in the basin. We were challenged to envision what a healthy, resilient Tahoe economy looks like. The output goal is to produce 2-3 Tactical Work Plans come May 2022 with champions and funding options identified that will make Tahoe’s economy stronger and more resilient. The next meeting in November will be focused on identifying opportunities. I am eager to be a part of this effort and will be looking for ways to more clearly assess the economic impacts of the construction and trades in the basin.

Also in September, staff and CATT Board President Brian McEneaney met with Hardy Bullock, NV County Board of Supervisors to discuss the state of the construction industry in District 5. We discussed many topics including the NV County use of ARPA funds, NV County partnering opportunities on economic data, effective building department culture, and other county initiatives. It is always good to connect with Hardy who works hard to reach out to his constituents and connect where needed.

Special thanks to the 20+ CATT members who showed up at the Town of Truckee Town Council meeting on September 28th to support public comments read by Brian McEneaney and by me regarding the state of the local builders and frustrations with building permit processing delays due to a myriad of challenges this summer including a total Town shut down due to a cyber security hack. We are anxious to work with the Building Department to find efficiency-based solutions that will help with future issues. Truckee North Tahoe Government Affairs Manager Pete Fenolio will have more to communicate on this topic. Check out the video on the "Truckee Town Council Permitting Update" article in this issue.

On October 6th, we had our Inaugural Fall Golf Tournament at Edgewood in South Lake Tahoe. We had a great turn out, a lot of fun, and an after party and member recruitment event at the Hard Rock Café. I am excited to have our first large event closer to our South Lake Tahoe membership. In this newsletter there is a Fall Golf Recap and video. Thank you to our sponsors and participants.

Stay safe.

My best,

Kellie Cutler
