TRUCKEE DONNER PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT
Consent calendar item 10 on the 3/2/2022 Board agenda proposed water connection fee increases of 39.536% - 39.86% and meter box upgrade increases of 46.66% be addressed on the next regular Board meeting 4/6/2022.
Per the staff report.
The Connection Fee is governed by Ordinance 2012-02. As noted in the Ordinance:
“Connection fees are charged to reimburse the District for the actual administrative, material and labor costs of connecting to the water system (excluding the service lateral).” Ordinance 2012-02 does not include language for an annual inflationary adjustment and Connection Fees have not been adjusted since 2012.”
“Water Connection Fee and Water Meter Box Upgrade Fee Adjustment
The District has experienced sizable increases in the cost of labor and materials since the Water Connection Fee and Water Meter Box Upgrade Fee were adopted.”
These fee increases combined with the 42% overall increase in TDPUD fees for a new Single Family Residence (SFR) since 2016 will represent an increase of between 81.53% and 88.66% since 2016 in the cost of water connection related permits/fees for the TDPUD.
The TDPUD has promised to provide cost data to justify these increases prior to the next meeting for review.
