A flurry of activity has been happening this month at CATT. Here are some updates:
7/8 South Lake Tahoe Mixer & 2021-2022 Building & Remodeling Guide Distribution
Last night, on 7/8, CATT held the first mixer of the year at MOBO Law, LLC, in Zephyr Cove where members were invited for food and Alibi beer, and to pick up a copy of the 2021-2022 CATT Building and & Remodeling Guide. I enjoyed interacting with our South Lake Tahoe members and prospective members and the opportunity to discuss current industry conditions, trends, and economic climate.
Members provided positive comments regarding the 2021-2022 Guide and the exposure it provides through ads and the member directory. The Guide was just released, and 20,000 copies will be distributed throughout the region. In addition to being great advertising for businesses, the purchase of ads directly supports CATT programs and services. Thank you to those who bought ads, contributed articles and made this the most successful publication to date! The Guides have been mailed directly to members or dropped off at member businesses. For extra copies stop by the CATT office or call 530.550.9999 A digital version of the Guide is also available: click here.
A consistent concern I am hearing from members is the continued issue of hiring and retention of staff. Housing for the workforce continues to be an issue for employers in attracting employees, and especially those who are in the skilled workforce or building trades. There is a dwindling pool of skilled labor to pull from and companies are competing to retain those employees. There is no easy way to address this issue, and CATT continues to encourage possible solutions such as workforce training programs and being part of the discussion regarding availability and cost of housing in the region that is available to employees.
Truckee Downtown Park Groundbreaking
It is official! As of this week, preliminary work is being done at the Truckee Downtown Park site. I toured the property and was excited to see all of the planning and fundraising becoming a physical reality. We are still selling customized pavers until the end of July and have a fundraising gap of approximately $75,000 that we are working on filling.
In this newsletter there is an article on the groundbreaking and a video of the work site: Click here to view. I am grateful to all of our funders, sponsors, community partners, and contractors that are supporting this project. It takes an entire community to put together a project like this. I am excited to see the space being transformed into a beautified gathering place for our community to enjoy into the future.
New CATT Team Member
We are pleased to announce that CATT has added a new team member. Tamara Broadway is now our Events & Office Manager. She will be primarily responsible for office management and event planning and execution. Her skill set compliments the rest of the team in the office, and she has already hit the ground running. Welcome Tamara to the CATT family!
My best,
