GET INVOLVED NOW WITH CATTPAC INTERVIEW/ENDORSEMENT PROCESS
Interviews of the four known Town Council candidates have already been done by the CATTPAC Team assigned to that race. It is possible there will be other candidates filing for the Council seats by the August 12 deadline and the CATTPAC Team will interview those candidates as well. Interviews for the North Tahoe Fire Protection District candidates will take place the third week of August.
The Interview Teams make recommendations to the full CATTPAC Board. The CATTPAC Board makes the endorsement decisions based on various traits of each candidate. CATTPAC’s evaluation criteria includes, but is not limited to, is the candidate business-friendly, willing to work with CATT on a collaborative basis, knowledgeable about the district or jurisdiction, understands the role of staff vs elected official, has the time to put into the job, considers the “big picture” also “objective,” and has connections to other people and organizations.
No endorsement announcements are made until after the candidate forums. CATT members who want to weigh in on the candidates or endorsement decisions should contact CATTPAC Administrator Pat Davison 530.550.9999 or cattpac@ca-tt.com as soon as possible to make sure member input is considered by the CATTPAC Board prior to their decision.
SAVE THE DATES – CANDIDATE FORUMS
Although the selected races for the Truckee North Tahoe candidate forums have not been chosen, the dates have been finalized:
- Wednesday, September 9
- Thursday, September 10
Both forums start at 6:00 PM. Thanks to Tahoe Truckee Media (TahoeTruckeeMedia.org), these live forums will be streamed over the internet and televised on Suddenlink Channel 18. Unlike previous years, no audience will be in attendance. Tahoe Truckee Media archives the videos so they are available on demand plus re-runs are shown on Channel 18.
CATTPAC co-sponsors these as a public service to help inform the community about the candidates for selected races. Questions are posed by the editors or reporters with the Sierra Sun and Moonshine Ink.
For more information about the forums, please contact CATTPAC Administrator Pat Davison 530.550.9999 or cattpac@ca-tt.com.
